Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar, who is very vocal about issues and movements that are close to her heart, has now taken to social media to condemn incidents of physical assault and violence against frontline workers and doctors engaged in COVID-19 management and treatment of patients. A disturbed Bhumi took to Twitter and voiced her concerns aloud, urging people to show compassion towards them for working tirelessly just to keep us all safe. She tweeted, ‘Violence towards our doctors and frontline workers is completely unacceptable and quite appalling. Our medical sector has been working tirelessly over the last 14 months, the least we can do is show our support, gratitude & compassion towards them. #stopviolenceagainstdoctors’ Everyone seemed to agree with the actress. ‘Not only our docs !!! all the healthcare personnel working across India need a safe and dignified environment to work in’, one wrote. Another netizen, a doctor replied by saying, ‘Ty for raising the voice for saftey of doctors & other health professionals . at least some body in society are concerned with ground reality’. One opined, ‘Violence of any form be it physical or mental should be condemned. Empathy towards everyone be it a patient, a doctor, relative of a patient etc should be followed which is missing from both sides.’ Ever since recovering from the deadly coronavirus around mid-April, Bhumi Pednekar has been dedicating all her efforts towards helping out as much as she can amid the second wave of COVID-19 in India. Not only is she amplifying the voices of those in need of help using her reach on social media platforms, but she has also started many initiatives that benefit the common people during such trying times. Up until recently, Bhumi had also been urging people to donate plasma and help COVID-19 infected patients. However, she had to put a pause on her ‘plasma warrior’ initiative complying with government directives.
