A case has been filed against Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station for allegedly raping a woman who was visiting Cox’s Bazar from Jatrabari in Dhaka. A total of six people, including three unidentified persons, were made accused in the case. Cox’s Bazar Model Police Station OC Sheikh Munir Ul Gias confirmed the information on Thursday night.

He said the woman tourist was taken to the District Sadar Hospital and admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Center (OCC). The case was registered with the report there. The main accused are Ashiqul Islam, Abdul Jabbar alias Israfil Huda Joy alias Jaya, Mehedi Hasan Babu, and hotel manager Riaz Uddin Chhota. The other three are unknown.

Earlier, RAB-15 identified the three after seeing CCTV footage of the rape of a female tourist. Riaz Uddin Chhotan (33), the manager of Zia Guest Inn Hotel, was arrested and later arrested as an accomplice of the rapists.

Earlier, the woman was allegedly picked up from Laboni Point in the city on Wednesday night and allegedly raped. Upon receiving the news, RAB-15 rescued him from a hotel called Zia Guest Inn in the lighthouse area of the city at around 1.30 pm.
According to local sources, accused Ashik has recently been released from jail. Police said that there are more than a dozen cases against him on various charges including drug and snatching. All three accused in the rape case are followers of Cox’s Bazar district BCL president SM Saddam Hussein. Since the incident, various photos taken by Saddam with Aashiq, Jaya, and others at different times have spread on Facebook.
