KOLKATA: The South Bengal Frontier of the Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday night seized 2.5 kg gold and arrested a person – Ajmal Sana (27 yrs) when he was trying to sneak the metal illegally into the country through the Bangladesh border. The seized gold has a market value of Rs 1.27 crore.
According to sources, the BSF jawans on Friday saw a suspicious motorcycle driven by a youth coming from the side of Amudia village. He was going towards Balti Bazar area. When the jawans wanted to stop the motorcycle and search, the young man suddenly tried to run away. The jawans apprehended him and found 24 Gold biscuits hidden inside the motorcycle.
During interrogation Sana said that a Bangladeshi national met him and handed over the consignment to a resident of Balti Bazar area. Seized gold biscuits and the smuggler were handed over to the Customs.
