Unlike traditional biofuels derived from organic feedstocks, genuine e-SAF is created by synthesizing green hydrogen—produced via renewable electricity—with captured carbon dioxide. This process offers a truly scalable path toward decarbonizing long-haul flights without competing for agricultural land or depleting critical natural resources. However, despite having years to prepare for the upcoming 2030 mandates, legacy energy providers have largely stalled on constructing domestic e-SAF production facilities.
